About Our Elementary School

Our elementary school is new to Calgary and is looking for it's inaugural classmates to join us in September 2025. Acton Academy Calgary Central Society is a not-for-profit organization (2664484 Alberta Society) registered with Alberta Registries and governed by a Board of Directors dedicated to ensuring our mission thrives. Acton Academy Calgary Central is accredited by Alberta's Ministry of Education, which means we comply with:

  • Licensing requirements
  • City bylaws
  • Health & Safety Codes
  • Teacher certification and (minimum) curriculum standards
  • Student reporting regulations

While our financial structure aligns with private elementary schools, allocating resources to ensure the highest quality learning experience, our not-for-profit status ensures that any surplus is reinvested into the school and our students. Unlike for-profit institutions, there are no dividends - our sole mandate is to contribute positively to society.

We are currently in the process of securing charitable status from the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA). Once approved, we will be able to issue tax receipts for donations, further supporting our mission to provide an exceptional, learner-driven education.

Values

Student-Centered Learning:

Focus on empowering learners through the co-creation of their Individualized Learning Plans and mastery-based progression. They will be encouraged to explore and pursue passions to discover their authentic selves and interests.

Leadership & Life Skills:

We prepare students for the future by cultivating critical thinking, emotional intelligence, practical problem-solving skills, and leadership through student-led governance, fostering responsibility for their education and their community, while equipping them with essential soft skills and practical abilities that align with their passions and prepare them for life's challenges.

Community & Connections

  • Knowledge is continuous: ideas flow and connect to internalize concepts and be able to apply them later.
  • Strong connections within and around our school community foster collaboration, shared responsibility, and opportunities for growth and learning. We are on a hero's journey together.
